The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by the Governor of the Syrdarya Region, Erkinjon Turdimov, and comprising representatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies and IT Park Uzbekistan, has concluded an official visit to Malaysia aimed at strengthening investment and technological cooperation. The visit focused on developing investment, business, and technological collaboration between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
As part of the visit, the Uzbekistan–Malaysia Business Cooperation Forum “Do Business in Syrdarya” was organized, bringing together more than 170 representatives of small and medium-sized businesses as well as technology entrepreneurs from Malaysia.
During the forum, participants were presented with information on the business environment of the Syrdarya region, investment opportunities, the benefits of IT Park Uzbekistan membership, zero-risk business conditions, and the development of the startup ecosystem in the region.
The visit also included meetings with leading Malaysian business and technology organizations, including the Contact Center Association of Malaysia, the National Tech Association of Malaysia, the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization, and Global Business Services Malaysia. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in digital technologies, outsourcing, and the development of IT services.
Special attention was given to a meeting with Thomas G. Tsao, Chairman of the investment company GOBI Partners. Following the discussions, strong interest was expressed in investing in startups in Uzbekistan.
Currently, twelve Malaysian companies have already established offices in the Syrdarya region, and further growth in their number is expected. The outcomes of the visit create additional opportunities for IT Park Uzbekistan to attract international investors, expand its partner network, and integrate Uzbek startups into global markets.
