As part of his working visit to Australia, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with representatives of the Uzbek diaspora in Sydney. The gathering provided a comprehensive overview of the digital reforms currently underway in Uzbekistan, the present state and future prospects of the IT sector, as well as the opportunities being created through IT Park Uzbekistan.
The meeting also featured the presentation of IT Park Uzbekistan’s strategy for 2025–2030. The document places particular focus on the continued development of the national innovation ecosystem, the expansion of international cooperation, and the creation of a favorable business environment for both domestic and foreign specialists. In addition, mechanisms for engaging compatriots residing abroad in the development of the national IT sector, and for effectively leveraging their scientific expertise and practical experience, were discussed.
The event was attended by more than thirty compatriots, including IT specialists with extensive professional experience across various fields, as well as startup founders and entrepreneurs. Several participants expressed interest in establishing cooperation with IT Park and indicated their readiness to apply the expertise gained abroad in the implementation of digital projects in the country.
The discussions further addressed proposals aimed at strengthening engagement with compatriots and involving their knowledge and competencies in the development of the national economy. It was underscored that organizing such meetings on a regular basis, as well as creating sustainable platforms for continuous dialogue with Uzbeks abroad, holds particular importance.
