“Uzbekistan is positioned to become a dominant regional IT hub,” says MightyCall CEO Dmitri Lepikhov

MightyCall, a leading U.S.-based tech company recognized among the Top 100 SMEs of 2024 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, has established a thriving engineering hub in Tashkent’s IT Park. Dmitri Lepikhov, CEO of MightyCall, spoke to Daryo about the company’s decision to invest in Uzbekistan, the country’s potential as a regional IT hub, and his vision for cross-border tech collaboration.

When asked about the factors influencing MightyCall’s decision to establish an engineering hub in Tashkent, Lepikhov highlighted the unique opportunities offered by Uzbekistan’s IT Park.

“Tashkent IT Park presented a unique combination of opportunities that aligned perfectly with our strategic goals,” he stated. “Three key factors stood out: ready-to-use, state-of-the-art infrastructure, access to talented and ambitious human capital, and attractive tax incentives for IT Park residents and employees.”

Lepikhov further emphasized the professionalism of the IT Park management team, whose vision and tangible progress played a decisive role in MightyCall’s expansion.

“The process of establishing our hub was seamless, enabling smooth and productive integration for our operations. This level of commitment and collaboration is exceptional, and we’re proud to be part of such a forward-thinking ecosystem,” he added.

Lepikhov believes Uzbekistan is poised to become a dominant regional IT hub, citing the country’s rapid technological growth, skilled workforce, and strategic location.

“Uzbekistan combines rapid technological growth with an ambitious, highly skilled workforce. At the center of this progress are its people—students and young professionals driving innovation and change,” he noted.

The development of institutions like IT Park University and the presence of international tech companies have created an empowering ecosystem for global competition. For international businesses, Uzbekistan offers unparalleled access to skilled talent and a supportive business environment.

Reflecting on the experience with MightyCall’s Tashkent-based team, Lepikhov praised Uzbek IT professionals for their adaptability, strong work ethic, and entrepreneurial mindset.

“It’s not just about technical expertise—it’s about ambition and the drive to compete globally,” he explained. “For instance, we sometimes receive requests for our call center software from established companies in North America, only to discover they also have a presence in Tashkent’s IT Park. This highlights the entrepreneurial spirit thriving in Uzbekistan.”

Lepikhov envisions Central Asia, led by Uzbekistan, as a key player in the global tech industry. He pointed to government policies and IT Park initiatives as essential factors fostering cross-border collaboration.

“The future of tech is global, and Central Asia has everything it takes to play a significant role. International companies have an opportunity to act early: build partnerships, invest in local talent, and leverage the region’s strengths in innovation, creativity, and adaptability,” he said.

Addressing aspiring Uzbek tech entrepreneurs, Lepikhov underscored the importance of focusing on innovation within niche markets.

“Understand your niche deeply, talk to your customers regularly, and deliver exceptional, ‘out of this world’ service. Consistently exceeding customer expectations will set you apart and lead to success sooner than you expect,” he advised.

Beyond business operations, MightyCall actively contributes to Uzbekistan’s tech ecosystem through knowledge-sharing initiatives and events aimed at fostering local talent.

“Our presence in Tashkent is about building meaningful, long-term partnerships. We organize and participate in developer events, sharing insights from our success in the North American market. These real-life experiences are valuable for early-stage companies and ambitious startups,” Lepikhov explained.

He expressed excitement about supporting Uzbekistan’s next generation of entrepreneurs, calling them the future of the country’s global competitiveness.

MightyCall’s collaboration with Tashkent IT Park serves as a testament to Uzbekistan’s growing prominence in the global tech industry. With visionary leadership, strategic infrastructure, and a dynamic workforce, the country is well on its way to becoming a regional IT powerhouse.
