Tumaris.Tech: IT Park Uzbekistan and Partners Boost Women's Entrepreneurship in Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan – September 18, 2024. An official meeting took place between IT Park Uzbekistan and key partners of the Tumaris.Tech project, where future cooperation and the globalization of women’s entrepreneurial initiatives in Central Asia were discussed. Tumaris.Tech, a project launched by IT Park Uzbekistan in August 2020 with the support of USAID Project on Business and Business Environment Development, aims to provide comprehensive support for women-led businesses across the region. The initiative has already made significant strides, with its 3rd wave of the project currently underway throughout Central Asia.

Representing IT Park Uzbekistan, Executive Director Abdulakhad Kuchkarov emphasized the importance of international partnerships and the critical role of Tumaris.Tech in empowering women entrepreneurs. Partners from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan participated in the meeting during ICT Week. These partners included business incubators, accelerators, and innovation centers such as MOST Business Intelligence, Accelerate Prosperity, StartUp Academy, ololo, and Technohub.

The meeting covered key areas for further collaboration, focusing on expanding Tumaris.Tech's reach across Central Asia. Discussions emphasized the importance of fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems that prioritize women’s involvement in technology and innovation.

Tumaris.Tech, the largest accelerator for women in Central Asia, has now opened applications for its second and final cohort, which focuses on helping women entrepreneurs expand into new markets and grow their exports. Throughout the program, participants will engage in three months of intensive training and close collaboration with experienced mentors to craft strategies for successful international expansion. Registration is open until September 23, 2024.

Through initiatives like Tumaris.Tech, IT Park Uzbekistan continues to support the growth of women-led startups, offering valuable opportunities for entrepreneurs to scale their businesses, enter new markets, and enhance their global presence.

    Future Collaboration

Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, Executive Director of IT Park Uzbekistan, and Marat Tolibay, CEO of Activat VC, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to foster the collaboration between organizations in the area of youth entrepreneurship and further development of Tumaris.Tech programs.

Activat VC, a Kazakh venture capital firm, has already invested in three startups from Uzbekistan: BILLZ, Tass Vision, and Tezbor. During the meeting, the current collaboration was reviewed, and both sides expressed their commitment to supporting the Tumaris.Tech project. Plans were also set in motion for further globalizing the project across all Central Asian countries.

This partnership between IT Park Uzbekistan and Activat VC marks a significant step towards empowering the young generation in tech and fostering innovation across Central Asia. By providing essential resources, mentorship, and investment opportunities, the collaboration not only supports the growth of startups but also contributes to the broader development of the region's tech ecosystem.
