IT Park Uzbekistan Presented Digitalization Initiatives at the Meeting of the Uzbek-German Business Council

On May 18, the tenth meeting of the Uzbek-German Business Council took place in Tashkent. The event focused on discussing prospects for bilateral cooperation in the fields of automotive manufacturing, IT and digitalization, industry, education, geology, and investment.

The meeting brought together representatives of the Uzbek and German business communities, relevant ministries and agencies, as well as organizations and companies including Uzavtosanoat, Volkswagen AG, Schwarz Digits, Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, CLAAS Global Sales, Control Union Germany, telc, Ernst Klett Sprachen, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC), Procab, AKFA Group, and New Uzbekistan University.

The event opened with welcoming speeches by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, and Executive Partner of Knauf Group, Ulrich Knotzer, who co-chaired the council from the Uzbek and German sides, respectively. The opening ceremony was also attended by Michael Harms, Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, German Ambassador to Uzbekistan Manfred Huterer, and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov.

One of the key topics of the meeting was digital transformation and the development of technological partnership between Uzbekistan and Germany. As part of the event, IT Park Uzbekistan CEO Azamat Karamatov delivered a speech highlighting the development of the country’s IT sector and the support measures available for foreign companies.

According to him, more than 3,500 companies are currently operating within the IT Park ecosystem, over 1,000 of which are foreign enterprises. More than 250 companies have been established with the participation of European capital.

It was also noted that by the end of 2025, Uzbekistan’s IT services exports are expected to exceed $1.1 billion, with nearly a quarter of total IT exports directed to European countries. IT Park has already opened international offices in Germany, the United States, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and China.

In addition, venture investment volumes have grown significantly in recent years, contributing to the formation of a market worth over $400 million. Currently, 22 venture capital funds operate in the country.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the special legal regime “Enterprise Uzbekistan,” incentives for international IT companies, the development of data centers and green energy projects, as well as the expansion of the startup and venture ecosystem.

Participants also discussed the conditions created for foreign IT companies. IT Park offers a system of tax incentives, simplified business registration procedures, and the Zero Risk program, which provides export-oriented companies with free office infrastructure for up to one year. In addition, the country is creating favorable conditions for launching joint technological projects and further developing the digital economy.

IT Park Uzbekistan’s participation in the Business Council meeting marked another step toward expanding cooperation with European companies and strengthening international partnerships. For Uzbekistan, this opens up additional opportunities to strengthen its position in the global IT market, attract investment, and create new jobs in the technology sector.
