IT Park Uzbekistan Continues Engagements with Key Malaysian Industry Leaders

During Malaysia Matrade Export Day 2024, hosted at the MATRADE Exhibition and Conference Center, IT Park showcased its strategic vision and expanding technological capabilities. This event served as an essential platform for IT Park to highlight Uzbekistan’s dynamic tech ecosystem, attract interest from Malaysian ITes-businesses, and foster potential collaborations with industry leaders and governmental organizations. The delegation from IT Park was led by Oybek Anvarov, Director of IT Park Syrdarya branch, who played a pivotal role in representing the interests and vision of IT Park at the event.

Key Meetings and Discussions at the Event:

One of the significant interactions was with Barry Edmonds, Director of United Technology Malaysia. The meeting opened discussions on potential collaborative projects, allowing IT Park and United Technology to identify shared goals and explore how both entities could leverage their expertise for mutual growth.

United Technology Malaysia is a major provider of technical solutions across diverse industries, focusing on digital transformation, IT services, and advanced engineering. The company collaborates closely with both public and private sectors, contributing significantly to technological progress and regional development.

The IT Park delegation also held insightful discussions with representatives from the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) of Malaysia. These conversations centered on potential avenues for cooperation and the exchange of knowledge to promote sustainable growth in trade and investment. By engaging with MITI, IT Park reinforced its commitment to learning from established practices and aligning with international standards for trade and innovation.

MATRADE, Malaysia’s national trade promotion agency, played a pivotal role in fostering dialogue and partnerships. Through its robust market intelligence and trade facilitation programs, MATRADE has been instrumental in helping Malaysian companies enter new global markets. The interactions provided IT Park Uzbekistan with valuable insights into best practices for supporting the expansion of technology-driven enterprises.

MATRADE’s mission is to enhance the global reach of Malaysian businesses through comprehensive market intelligence, trade advisory services, and business-matching initiatives.

The discussions with Chin Shean Yiing, Vice President of United Overseas Bank (UOB), added a financial perspective to the engagements. The talks explored potential collaborations that could benefit the Uzbek startup ecosystem and align with UOB’s goals of supporting technological innovation in the region.

UOB is recognized as a leading financial institution providing corporate banking services and investment solutions. The bank’s support for fostering economic growth aligns with IT Park’s vision of creating an innovation-friendly environment.

Additionally, the delegation of IT Park held a meeting with Basis Bay, represented by Shawn Suresh, Chief Operating and Technology Officer. The discussions explored establishing a Level 1 Technical Support Desk and other potential long-term projects, including the development of a data center in Uzbekistan. These dialogues emphasized mutual benefits through sustainable technology initiatives and enhanced IT infrastructure.

These engagements highlighted IT Park Uzbekistan’s dedication to forging strong international partnerships and positioning Uzbekistan as a strategic hub for technology and innovation in Central Asia. Through these connections, IT Park is setting the stage for future collaborations, investments, and knowledge-sharing opportunities that will enrich the Uzbek tech ecosystem.
