Women in Tech Uzbekistan Receives Youth Engagement Award in Japan

With the support of IT Park Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, and the Art and Culture Development Foundation under the Cabinet of Ministers, Women in Tech Uzbekistan marked its presence on the global agenda at the Women in Tech Global Summit 2025, held in Osaka, Japan. Led by Kamola Sobirova, Advisor to the Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the delegation showcased Uzbekistan at the summit, which hosted over 400 participants from more than 50 countries.

Uzbekistan highlighted its significant strides in inclusive technology, with the national pavilion being a key part of the Innovation Trail at the World Expo 2025, alongside the pavilions of the United States, Germany, and France.

During the event, the Osaka Protocol was signed — an international declaration aimed at accelerating gender equality in the digital era. As a signatory to the Osaka Protocol, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to fostering inclusive innovation, supporting women’s participation in technological initiatives, and advancing policies that ensure digital equity.

Kamola Sobirova, Advisor to the Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, presented the country’s achievements in promoting women’s entrepreneurship, highlighting the outcomes of the Tumaris.Tech initiative:

“Participating in the Women in Tech Global Summit in Osaka marks a pivotal moment for Uzbekistan in promoting the role of women in technology and acknowledging our efforts to establish the country as a regional IT hub. Over the years, our focus has not only been on equipping women with advanced digital skills but also empowering them to actively shape the future of our economy. Winning the Youth Engagement Award serves as a significant recognition of our dedication to supporting youth and engaging women in the digital economy. This recognition motivates us to move forward with even greater energy and responsibility” .

IT Park Uzbekistan, with the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, has launched a number of nationwide initiatives — including Tumaris.Tech — aimed at enhancing digital skills, accelerating startup development, and broadening opportunities for youth. These efforts are designed to empower women across the country to realize their full potential and make a meaningful contribution to the digital economy.

The Women in Tech Uzbekistan team was honored with the esteemed Youth Engagement Award for its exceptional contribution to fostering leadership among young women in technology. The delegation also included key figures from Uzbekistan’s tech ecosystem, such as Anna Ambrozevich, Natalya Ni, Anna Surkova, and Kamila Daminova — winner of the CCA Awards 2024 — alongside volunteers from Uzbekistan supporting the summit.

“Uzbekistan demonstrates how diverse individuals can collectively shape a society rooted in respect, equality, and shared values. While changing established systems may be difficult, the true strength lies in cultivating youth with an inherent sense of inclusion from the outset,”  — Anna Ambrozevich, Director of Women in Tech Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan’s participation in the summit has strengthened international ties, opened new avenues for collaboration, and reaffirmed the country's ambition to become a leader in advancing equality in ICT. Uzbekistan remains committed to investing in digital education, expanding female leadership, and empower youth — as a foundation for a sustainable and inclusive technological future.
