Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Rustam Karimjonov, held a meeting with Sarim Aziz, Director of Public Policy for South and Central Asia at Meta.
During the meeting, the representative of Meta provided a detailed overview of the company’s activities in the region and expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation in the areas of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the development of an inclusive digital economy.
The Deputy Minister, in turn, elaborated on the objectives outlined in the Digital Uzbekistan – 2030 Strategy, including ongoing efforts with American companies to expand the export of IT services.
The Uzbek side also presented a number of national initiatives in IT education, such as the One Million AI Prompters and Zero Risk programs, aimed at supporting foreign companies operating in Uzbekistan and enhancing their access to skilled professionals.
Representatives of Meta commended Uzbekistan’s notable achievements in the information and communication technology sector, emphasizing the country’s growing potential to enable domestic companies to enter global markets through digital channels. Special attention was given to the importance of cultivating an open innovation environment and enhancing national competencies in the field of artificial intelligence.
The meeting further addressed key issues related to information security, data protection, and the responsible and transparent development of artificial intelligence models.
In addition, Meta presented a range of educational initiatives and expressed readiness to launch scholarship and pilot programs in partnership with leading universities in Uzbekistan.
Following the discussions, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in the areas of artificial intelligence, IT education, and the digital economy, as well as to strengthen collaboration in the development of academic programs and joint research projects.
