As part of his working visit to the United States, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with the leadership of Coursera, one of the world’s largest online education platforms.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in IT education, developing a certification system aligned with international standards, and broadening access to global digital learning resources.

The parties considered joint initiatives to establish a national IT education rating system, improve certification processes, and strengthen Uzbekistan’s digital education ecosystem.
A key element of cooperation will be the translation of 3,000 Coursera courses into Uzbek by the end of 2025, aimed at providing wide access to high-quality international educational content for students and professionals across the country.

For reference: Coursera already supports the learning journeys of nearly 1,5 million Uzbekistan learners. Coursera’s content partners include global industry leaders such as Google, AWS, Nvidia, Meta, and Microsoft.

The meeting underscored the importance of enhancing IT education quality by aligning academic programs with labor market needs, strengthening graduate employability, and expanding industry partnerships.
