Qatar hosted the Uzbekistan Tech Conference

On February 28th, in Doha, Qatar, a significant event took place — the Uzbekistan Tech Conference — as part of the international technology conference Web Summit Qatar. This initiative, organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Technologies and IT Park, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Qatar, alongside Uzinfocom and Uzum companies, garnered attention from numerous foreign delegates within the IT sector.

The conference was directed towards fostering collaboration and cultivating strategic partnerships to facilitate the entrance of international enterprises into Uzbekistan, while concurrently advancing the presence of local companies in the global market, with the overarching goal of positioning the nation as a burgeoning hub for IT outsourcing.

The event featured notable speakers including Ashraf Hodjaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Qatar, Rustam Karimjonov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jahongir Rajabov, Deputy CEO of IT Park, as well as Roman Lavrentiev, Chief Operating Officer of Uzum.

The experts highlighted Uzbekistanʼs competitive advantages within the global business landscape, underscored the youthful and adept labor force, and elucidated prospects for enterprises electing to inaugurate their representations in the country.

The panel session, featuring leaders from prominent IT companies including Tass Vision, Sarmo, and TopBrains, startups affiliated with the IT Park network, garnered significant attention. During this session, they imparted insights into their experiences navigating the IT business landscape in Uzbekistan, elucidating the sectorʼs forward-looking evolution within the nation.

Following the event, representatives from IT and BPO companies in Qatar demonstrated significant interest in establishing offices in Uzbekistan. Furthermore, they conveyed their intent to partake in the forthcoming Offshore Outsourcing Tour, scheduled for March 18-20 in Tashkent and Samarkand.

Among the entities, Invest Qatar stands out, having identified products from IT Park residents, startups, and projects, expressing keen interest in investing in them. Noteworthy software development firms from Qatar, including Tez Qatar and Meeza, have articulated their intention to establish representations in Uzbekistan.

The key attractive factors that have drawn the attention of companies encompass the governmentʼs robust backing for the advancement of the IT and outsourcing sectors within the Republic, alongside an array of support initiatives facilitated by IT Park, such as the “Zero Risk” and “Regional Headquarters” programs. Moreover, Uzbekistanʼs strategic positioning at the core of Central Asia further accentuates its allure to global investors.

“The burgeoning diplomatic ties between Uzbekistan and Qatar not only lay the groundwork for intergovernmental collaboration but also serve as a catalyst for mutual advancement in the realm of information technology. Presently, amidst successful initiatives, we witness a shared commitment to close cooperation, yielding tangible results in the development of the IT sectors in both nations. This stands as a prominent illustration of how collaborative efforts in digital technologies can bolster dynamic growth and fortify the partnership between our respective states,“ noted Deputy Minister Rustam Karimjonov.
