The CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, held a meeting with a delegation from the online learning platform Coursera, headed by Nicolas Fouquet, Managing Director for the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), and Vera Ignatieva, Senior Customer Success Manager. The parties discussed prospects for advancing online education in Uzbekistan, integrating international educational programs, and identifying new avenues for cooperation within the framework of the country’s digital transformation of the education sector.
Coursera is one of the world’s leading online learning platforms, established in 2012 by Stanford University professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller. The platform today unites more than 140 million registered learners, offering over 5,800 courses, 3,000 projects, 750 specializations, 45+ professional certificates, and more than 40 degree programs. Coursera employs approximately 1,200 staff members and maintains a global partner network of more than 325 universities and corporations. Its headquarters is located in Mountain View, California, USA.
During the meeting, the parties examined potential areas for deepening collaboration, including the development of joint educational programs, expanded access to professional certification, and the implementation of flexible digital solutions for universities and government institutions. Coursera expressed its commitment to supporting Uzbekistan in strengthening its IT workforce, with particular emphasis on training in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity.
Special attention was given to opportunities for integrating Coursera into the initiatives of IT Park Uzbekistan, including programs for the retraining and upskilling of IT Park specialists, as well as the involvement of universities across the country in Coursera’s global ecosystem. The delegation highlighted the strong academic potential of Uzbek students and the favorable conditions for the introduction of EdTech solutions.
Collaboration with Coursera will enable IT Park Uzbekistan to broaden educational opportunities for young people and professionals, elevate the national online learning system to the international level, and strengthen Uzbekistan’s position as a regional hub for digital talent development.
