Uzbekistan Explores Development of Programming Competition Ecosystem and Cooperation with ICPC

The parties discussed the development of Uzbekistan’s programming competition ecosystem, support for talented young people, and opportunities to expand the country’s participation in prestigious international programming competitions.

ICPC — the International Collegiate Programming Contest — is one of the world’s leading international programming competitions, bringing together talented university students from different countries. More than 70,000 students and over 4,000 universities participate in the competition, while around 140 university teams compete at the World Finals.

During the meeting, Uzbekistan expressed its interest in further strengthening cooperation with ICPC, including exploring the possibility of hosting the ICPC World Finals in Uzbekistan in the future.

Hosting an international competition of this scale could contribute to strengthening Uzbekistan’s ties with the global technology and academic community, showcasing the potential of local youth, and increasing interest in programming.

The parties also exchanged views on identifying and training talented young programmers, developing competitions between universities, strengthening the capacity of teachers and coaches, and encouraging greater participation of young people in international competitions.

The meeting also covered prospects for developing the programming competition ecosystem through cooperation between the ICPC Foundation, local universities, and IT Park Uzbekistan, as well as creating new educational and practical opportunities for young people.

Particular attention was paid to opportunities for engaging students in volunteer activities during the ICPC World Finals, expanding their international experience, and strengthening connections with ICPC alumni and representatives of global technology companies.

Following the meeting, the parties reviewed further areas of cooperation related to programming education, expanding youth participation in international competitions, and future engagement with the ICPC Foundation.
