IT Park and ADB discuss the development of regional IT infrastructure and the establishment of a national startup ecosystem

Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, held a meeting with a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The delegation was led by Mirzo Iskandar Gulyamov, Acting Country Director of the ADB Resident Mission in Uzbekistan. As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue elaborating a joint project aimed at the development of regional IT infrastructure and the establishment of a national startup ecosystem.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is an international financial institution founded in 1966, uniting 68 member countries. Its principal mission is to foster the socio-economic development of the states of Asia and the Pacific region. The headquarters of ADB are located in Manila, Philippines, and the Bank’s annual project financing exceeds USD 20 billion.

During the discussions, special attention was devoted to the development of regional IT infrastructure. It is planned to launch new IT hubs and campuses in five regions of Uzbekistan — Khorezm, Bukhara, Tashkent region, Andijan, and Jizzakh. Each campus will serve as a modern center for IT companies and startups, equipped with office spaces, coworking facilities, training classrooms, and laboratories.

The parties also reviewed the Enterprise Uzbekistan initiative, which envisions the creation of an institutional and regulatory platform. This platform will include a “Tech Sandbox” for testing fintech and other innovative solutions, as well as an online portal for applications. Furthermore, it will provide services in the areas of digital justice and dispute resolution, as well as technology and legal consultancy.

The formation of a national startup ecosystem and the development of a digital platform to support entrepreneurs were also addressed. IT Park expressed its readiness to work jointly with ADB to further detail each direction, define subsequent steps, plan relevant activities, and draw upon the successful experience of previous projects as a foundation for implementation.

Collaboration with ADB will enable IT Park Uzbekistan to significantly scale its operations across the regions, strengthen the national startup ecosystem, and create favorable conditions for the integration of Uzbek IT companies into the international market.
