Senior officials from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan and Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, currently on a business visit to the United States, participated in a meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to discuss preparations for the 2025 UN Public Service Forum.
UNDESA (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs) also affirmed its support for Uzbekistan’s initiatives aimed at improving its standing in global indices and building open, resilient, and effective public institutions.
During the session, a presentation was delivered on Uzbekistan’s ongoing digital reforms and the organizational efforts underway for the UN Public Service Forum, which is scheduled to take place in Samarkand from June 23 to 25, 2025.
The forum is expected to be a significant international event featuring high-level plenary sessions, practical workshops, and national case presentations that will highlight Uzbekistan’s experiences in public administration and digital transformation. The event will include participation from UN agencies, international organizations, and ministers from various countries.
Discussions also addressed the participation of senior foreign officials and the cooperation being developed with permanent missions to the UN in New York.
The importance of involving not only government bodies but also representatives from academia, international and regional organizations, IT companies, and civil society was emphasized to ensure an inclusive and impactful forum.
Concluding the meeting, UN Assistant Secretary-General Navid Hanif commended Uzbekistan’s efforts in advancing digital governance, implementing e-government solutions, and enhancing the quality of public services. He described Uzbekistan as a leading example of reform in Central Asia and acknowledged the upcoming forum in Samarkand as a reflection of the country’s increasing role in international affairs.
