In order to strengthen ties between Uzbekistan’s business community and international partners, promote integration into the global technological landscape, attract investment and innovation, and expand opportunities for young professionals and startups through the experience and support of the diaspora, the Uzbekistan Connect program was launched. The initiative seeks to engage successful professionals of Uzbek origin working at leading global technology companies and startups.
This initiative serves as a bridge between global expertise and local innovation, positioning Uzbekistan as a key player in the digital economy.
The key objectives of the Uzbekistan Connect Ambassador initiative include fostering international partnerships, creating a platform for export-oriented engagement, expanding investment and partnership opportunities, supporting talent development, and promoting Uzbekistan’s technological potential on the global stage.
As part of the Uzbekistan Connect program, the Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov convened a meeting with the program's ambassadors — distinguished Uzbek professionals currently working in leading countries around the world.
The meeting brought together 12 ambassadors representing prominent technology companies and startups from Germany, Japan, South Korea, Poland, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
Discussions during the meeting focused on Uzbekistan’s IT and startup ecosystems, digital infrastructure, key priorities outlined in the Digital Uzbekistan – 2030 strategy, and current national programs supporting young professionals.
Minister Sherzod Shermatov underscored that one of the foremost priorities is to elevate Uzbekistan’s visibility in the international IT market and to attract a greater number of global technology companies to the country. He placed special emphasis on expanding remote employment opportunities.
Additionally, the minister highlighted the importance of unlocking the potential of remote regions through the attraction of new enterprises and the creation of high-paying job opportunities for youth. In this context, he stressed the necessity of advancing local infrastructure, enhancing education and professional skills, and broadening avenues for international cooperation.
The Uzbekistan Connect ambassadors shared their experiences and presented proposals for participating in projects related to digital transformation and innovation in Uzbekistan, as well as in building partnerships with international investors and foreign enterprises. They also discussed opportunities for young professionals to enter the global market and engage in knowledge exchange.
This meeting marked a significant step toward the deeper integration of Uzbekistan into the global technological ecosystem and further advancement of the country’s digital progress, contributing to the strengthening of its international standing.
