AppAsia exploring Uzbekistan’s potential for establishing an outsourcing office

Tashkent, Uzbekistan – September 16, 2024. Leading Malaysian company AppAsia, specializing in mobile applications and IT security systems, has commenced a thorough exploration of opportunities to expand its operations in Uzbekistan. During a meeting with representatives from IT Park Uzbekistan, discussions focused on the prospects of establishing an office in the country and attracting local talent.

On the Uzbek side, the discussions were attended by representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan led by Makhliyo Muxinova, Services Export Development Director. The AppAsia delegation was headed by Datuk Seri Rahadian Mahmud, Chairman of the Board, and included key executives such as To Hong Chew, Wong Ngai Peo, and Yong Mai Fang.

AppAsia, one of Malaysia’s major public companies in the mobile content and IT systems sector, has accumulated an investment portfolio of $50 million since its inception and currently employs over 200 staff members. Actively seeking to expand its international presence, the company views Uzbekistan as a promising market for offshore development services. In particular, Uzbekistan’s IT export potential has attracted significant interest as a key avenue for business expansion.

    Plans for Uzbekistan

During the meeting, key topics of discussion included the establishment of an office in Uzbekistan, opportunities for hiring highly qualified professionals, and the exploration of broader business prospects in the country. Uzbekistan’s multilingual workforce, combined with cultural affinities, has made the country an attractive option for AppAsia’s regional expansion.

The company aims to leverage Uzbekistan’s rapidly growing IT sector and benefit from the government’s support programs to foster its business development in the region. For example, AppAsia has expressed interest in utilizing the Zero Risk program and is considering the Syrdarya region as a potential location for its office.

Potential collaboration with AppAsia will serve as a great advantage to improve the living standards of the country's population, and provide a quality foundation to enhance the professional expertise of Uzbek specialists. Furthermore, this partnership could create opportunities for remote work with one of the largest international companies.
