Uzbekistan strengthens technological ties with the United States

As part of the visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and IT Park Uzbekistan to the United States, a roundtable discussion was held dedicated to expanding international cooperation in the field of digital technologies and innovation.

The event was organized in Washington, D.C. by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, and IT Park Uzbekistan. The session was moderated by Jennifer Miel, Vice President for Central Asia and the Middle East at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The Uzbek delegation was represented by Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies, Farkhod Ibragimov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of IT Park Uzbekistan, and Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan.

The roundtable gathered 28 participants, including representatives of 19 leading international companies — Google, Meta, Palo Alto Networks, Mastercard, Oracle, Salesforce, Citi, Supermicro, Nexttracker, Playground Global, 500 Global, Vertiv, Mayer Brown, FINN Partners, Synergy International Systems, Axiom Space, Docra, Freedom Holding, and ZELH.

The main topics of discussion included data localization and protection, enhancing Uzbekistan’s investment attractiveness, establishing an advisory group under the Ministry of Digital Technologies with the participation of U.S. business representatives, and advancing the Enterprise Uzbekistan initiative — a key mechanism for attracting major international ITes companies.

Participants noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan has made significant progress in building a modern digital ecosystem. Regional branches of IT Park Uzbekistan have been established across the country, favorable business conditions have been introduced, and numerous international companies have entered the market. However, the next stage of development requires attracting global technology leaders (hyperscalers), which will depend on the implementation of international standards in infrastructure development, legal regulation, and data security.

The creation of Enterprise Uzbekistan will serve as a strong foundation for this next phase — a platform that will ensure transparency, technological infrastructure, and trust, enabling the world’s leading IT corporations to operate in Uzbekistan with confidence.

Uzbekistan is now viewed as a promising technological hub of Eurasia. Participants of the discussion emphasized the country’s significant potential for investment in the construction of data centers, the expansion of IT service exports, and the strengthening of the U.S. market’s role as a key destination for member companies of IT Park Uzbekistan.

Following the roundtable, the parties expressed their readiness to develop cooperation roadmaps for each area — from the implementation of AI-based solutions to the promotion of Uzbek IT products in global markets.

The event in Washington marked an important milestone in strengthening bilateral technological relations between Uzbekistan and the United States, opening a new chapter in the development of digital partnership and international integration.
