    Uzbekistan introduced new measures to attract foreign IT experts

    On 21 November, a new resolution aimed at advancing the digital sector and increasing the country’s attractiveness for foreign IT professionals and investors entered into force.

    Under this resolution, the special IT-visa may now also be issued to scholars holding PhD or DSc degrees, as well as initiators and IT specialists of international startup projects. This visa category is likewise available to directors and deputy directors of companies that are members of IT Park Uzbekistan. The visa is multiple-entry and provides unrestricted entry into the country for the purpose of work and participation in digital initiatives.

    In parallel, the government is introducing a targeted financing mechanism to support the training of qualified IT professionals. Concessional loans are planned to be allocated for studies at specialized international training centers.

    Additionally, the document provides for:

    • the allocation of targeted loans to IT service and software exporters holding the status of members of IT Park Uzbekistan, subject to an increase in their export volume of IT services by at least 30% within two years;
    • the allocation of targeted loans to specialists seeking to undergo training at foreign centers that prepare internationally qualified IT professionals and foreign-language instructors.

    These measures strengthen the capacity of IT Park Uzbekistan to engage with international specialists and companies. Simplified entry procedures for foreign experts and scholars provide access to global expertise, accelerate the launch of joint projects, and contribute to improving the quality of the local IT ecosystem.

    The new talent development mechanisms create conditions for rapidly addressing the demand for qualified developers and engineers, while also enhancing the export potential of IT Park members by increasing their competitiveness in international markets.
