Uzbekistan and Pakistan Expand Cooperation in the IT Sector

Particular attention was paid to Pakistan’s IT market and its human capital, including IT specialists, freelancers, and technology companies. The sides discussed opportunities for closer interaction between the IT communities of the two countries.

One of the key areas discussed was the development of freelancing, with a focus on moving from service provision toward the creation of proprietary digital products and technology companies. In this area, Uzbekistan and Pakistan can develop joint startups, attract venture investment, and create products for international markets.

Agriculture, healthcare, and education were identified as promising areas for joint technology projects. The two sides also discussed attracting Pakistani IT companies to Uzbekistan and positioning the country as a gateway to the Central Asian and CIS markets.

During the meeting, the Pakistani side was also introduced to the opportunities offered by the Zero Risk program, which enables IT companies, including those operating in the regions, to receive support when launching their operations in Uzbekistan. The program provides office space, necessary equipment, assistance with workforce training, compensation for certain international IT certification costs, and tax incentives.

The sides also discussed the development of IT services exports. Potential areas include the involvement of Pakistani specialists in projects in Uzbekistan, knowledge exchange between teams, and joint entry of companies from both countries into third markets.

As a continuation of the meeting, the Pakistani delegation attended a presentation by IT Park Uzbekistan. The guests were introduced to opportunities for foreign and local technology companies, the development of IT services exports, and support available for startups.

The delegation also visited UZINFOCOM and learned about the company’s experience in implementing large-scale digital projects, digitalizing public services, and developing information systems and platforms.

For IT Park Uzbekistan, expanding cooperation with Pakistan creates opportunities to attract new technology companies, strengthen international partnerships, and increase IT services exports. The development of connections between startups, IT professionals, and venture investors from the two countries, as well as joint entry into the markets of Central Asia and other regions, also holds significant potential.
