Uzbekistan and India Strenghen Collaboration in the IT Sector: Delegation Visit to Bangalore

During the visit of the Ministry of Digital Technologies and IT Park to Bangalore, India, a series of meetings were held with prominent players in the IT sector, including the NASSCOM association, game development studios, and Acharya University. The primary objective of the visit was to enhance collaboration between Uzbekistan and India in the field of information technology and game development, as well as to attract international companies to Uzbekistan.

    Engagement with NASSCOM

During a meeting with Bhaskar Kumar Verma, Director of NASSCOM in Bangalore, the delegation discussed avenues for expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and India. Key topics included attracting Indian export-oriented IT companies to Uzbekistan and organizing joint initiatives to promote awareness of Uzbekistan’s growing IT market. NASSCOM, representing over 3,000 leading IT and BPO companies, expressed strong interest in exploring investment opportunities and collaborative projects in Uzbekistan.

"Uzbekistan presents immense potential for collaboration. With its rapidly developing IT ecosystem and favorable business environment, we are confident that joint ventures and investments will play a pivotal role in advancing the technological capabilities of both nations", –  emphasized Mr. Verma, Director of NASSCOM.

    Discussions with Game Development Studios

A significant focus of the visit was on engaging with leading game development studios, including Tentworks Interactive, Bombay Play, XIGMA Games, and Second Quest. Representatives from the Game Developers Association of India (GDAI) expressed keen interest in facilitating visits by Indian studios to Uzbekistan and explored the potential for relocating development and design teams to the country.

The establishment of Tentworks Interactive's studio in Uzbekistan will mark a significant milestone for the industry. The company is preparing to launch the game "Becoming Pablo" and plans to target the CIS and European markets, leveraging the advantages of IT Park.

"We have chosen Uzbekistan as a strategic hub for our expansion. The opening of our office in Bukhara marks a significant milestone in our regional growth strategy, and we are confident that it will provide a robust platform for growth and progress in the region", – stated Jay Basani, CEO of Tentworks Interactive.

    Visit to Acharya University

The delegation also visited Acharya University, one of India’s premier institutions specializing in technology and engineering. The university is renowned for its Centers of Excellence, which collaborate with industry giants such as Wipro, IBM, Siemens, and Adobe. Discussions during the visit centered on the possibility of establishing similar Centers of Excellence in Bukhara, aimed at enhancing the skills of local IT professionals and accelerating the growth of Uzbekistan’s IT ecosystem.

The visit to Bangalore represents a significant step in deepening strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and India in the IT and technology sectors. Mutual interests and a shared commitment to development create a foundation for mutually beneficial partnerships and the creation of new employment opportunities in Uzbekistan. It is anticipated that further collaboration with NASSCOM, leading game development studios, and Indian universities will elevate Uzbekistan to a new level in the IT and technology fields, opening new avenues for the advancement of startups and innovative projects.
