A New Route for Startups: Uzbekistan and Serbia Connect Innovation Ecosystems

On September 7, 2026, in Belgrade, an IT Park Uzbekistan delegation led by Advisor to the CEO Abdulakhad Kuchkarov met with Sasa Lazovic, Managing Director of the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IT Park Uzbekistan and the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia. The document is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the startup ecosystems of the two countries and creating a practical channel of engagement between startups, investors, and development institutions in Uzbekistan and Serbia.

The parties intend to facilitate mutual market access for startups in Uzbekistan and Serbia, support their international expansion, and exchange experience and effective tools for developing technology entrepreneurship. Particular attention will be given to strengthening ties in venture capital and exploring opportunities for joint investment initiatives.

One of the priorities of the cooperation will be to raise awareness of Uzbekistan’s opportunities among Serbian startups and IT companies. The partnership will also help expand the international reach of the Land of Startups program and establish permanent channels of engagement with the innovation ecosystem of Southeast Europe.

The Memorandum provides for joint meetings, seminars, study visits, and other activities. These initiatives will help startups from both countries establish direct business contacts, explore new markets, and identify partners for further growth.

During the meeting, the leadership of the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia was invited to participate in ICT Week Uzbekistan and expressed interest in the event.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding marked a practical step toward moving from institutional dialogue to systematic cooperation between IT Park Uzbekistan and the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia, including the implementation of joint initiatives and the creation of new opportunities for startups and technology companies in both countries.
