IT Park Uzbekistan and ICPC Foundation Explore Prospects for Hosting ICPC World Finals in Uzbekistan

The meeting was attended by Azamat Karamatov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, as well as an ICPC Foundation delegation led by its President, Dr. William B. Poucher.

The parties reviewed organizational matters, host-country requirements, the necessary coordination among stakeholders involved in the process, as well as potential formats of cooperation with government institutions.

As part of the visit, the ICPC Foundation delegation also explored Uzbekistan’s capabilities for potentially hosting the ICPC World Finals in the future, including its infrastructure, organizational conditions, and capacity to deliver the event program.

Representatives of the ICPC Foundation shared their experience in organizing major international competitive programming events and outlined the key aspects considered when preparing competitions of this scale.

The ICPC Foundation delegation’s visit to Tashkent, taking place on September 20–24, 2026, is the first high-level visit by representatives of the organization following the signing of the Letter of Commitment and coincides with ICT WEEK Uzbekistan 2026.

The ICPC — International Collegiate Programming Contest — is an international algorithmic programming competition for university students. The global ICPC community spans 105 countries and 3,704 universities, with more than 71,000 participants taking part in all stages of the competition worldwide each year. The ICPC alumni community includes more than 450,000 people.

Around 140 teams that qualify through regional competitions participate in the ICPC World Finals. In recent years, the finals have been hosted in different countries around the world, including Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan. The 2024 World Finals were held in Astana, while the 2025 finals took place in Baku.

The scale and international reach of the competition are also reflected in the geographic diversity of its participants. In the Asia West region alone, more than 17,600 participants from 736 universities take part in onsite rounds, while Northern Eurasia brings together over 8,600 participants from 316 universities.

Potentially hosting the ICPC World Finals in Uzbekistan could contribute to the further development of the country’s competitive programming ecosystem and strengthen its engagement with the international technology and academic communities.
