    IT Park Uzbekistan Hosts Delegation from South Korea

    At the headquarters of IT Park Uzbekistan, Makhliyo Muksinova, Services Export Development Director, held a working meeting with representatives of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government (Republic of Korea) and the Gyeongbuk Technopark. The visit was aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration in the areas of startup support, international technology exchange, and the advancement of digital initiatives.

     

     

    The South Korean delegation included Mr. Jeong Seong-hyeon, Director General of the Bureau of Regional Development Policy of Gyeongsangbuk-do Government; Mr. Jeong Soon-yeol, Head of the Foreign Communities Division; Mr. Lee Han-sol, Representative of the same division; Mr. Ha In-seong, CEO of Gyeongbuk Technopark; Ms. Kim Yang-jin, Director of the Center for International Cooperation; as well as directors and senior researchers from various enterprises growth, smart product, and business development centers.

     

     

    During the meeting, the Uzbekistan delegation presented an overview of IT Park Uzbekistan’s activities, infrastructure, member companies ecosystem, startup support programs, and international initiatives. In turn, the Korean side introduced the operations of the Foreign Communities Division of the provincial administration and expressed strong interest in establishing a partnership between Gyeongbuk Technopark and IT Park Uzbekistan.

     

    Pilot Regional Visa Program of Gyeongsangbuk-do

    The Korean delegation presented a regional visa program designed to attract and employ foreign specialists. The discussions covered potential involvement of Uzbek IT professionals in summer internships and professional development programs in Korea. An initiative was also proposed to recommend experienced Uzbek interns for employment with South Korean companies operating in Uzbekistan, particularly in country/project manager roles.

     

     

    Talent Mobility and Market Access through the “Local to Global” (L2G) Program

    Both parties explored the possibility of leveraging the regional visa initiative as a mechanism to facilitate the entry of Uzbek companies into the South Korean market. Anticipated outcomes include the formation of joint ventures and a streamlined pathway for Uzbek IT companies seeking to expand into Korea.

     

     

    Joint Initiatives and Investment Opportunities

    The Korean side expressed readiness to support the establishment of joint ventures between Uzbek and South Korean enterprises, including the provision of potential investment backing.

     

    Development of a Joint Roadmap

    The parties agreed to develop a roadmap focused on startup acceleration, company attraction, and joint venture formation. These initiatives are intended to strengthen cross-border cooperation and enhance the presence of both Uzbek and Korean companies in new markets.

     

     

    This meeting marks a significant step toward deepening interregional technological dialogue between Uzbekistan and South Korea. IT Park Uzbekistan remains committed to expanding international cooperation and unlocking new opportunities for startups and IT companies in both countries.
